Participation of the members of the Depatment of Planetary Geodesy in the international conference: European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2013, Vienna, 7-12 April 2013

The conference European Geosciences Union General Assembly (EGU2013) was held in 7-12 April this year. In the conference participated representatives of the Space Research Center PAS, between others several members of the Department of Planetary Geodesy. The conference was divided into 25 panels, one of them was Geodesy. Six sessions were realized in the frame of this panel. In the conference participated more than 11000 participants.

The most important presentations in the panel Geodesy concerned on the comparison of results from several space and satellite techniques: SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging), GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) and DORIS (Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite). The one of them was common presentation of the Astrogeodynamic Observatory SRC PAS and Military University of Technology (MUT) about comparison of the results of coordinates determination from GNSS and SLR techniques for the period 1996-2011.

The development of the GNSS is drawing to use and the results analysis of the all satellites navigation systems: US GPS, Russian GLONASS, European Galileo and Chinese COMPASS. The modern GNSS stations should be able to receiving the signals from all these systems. The Astrogeodynamic Observatory SRC PAS is planned to perform observations of the all presented above systems, especially that the Observatory has receiver JAVAD (Time Transfer System 4), which has possibility of realization of this task (now the receiver is used for time transfer). Other goal of the GNSS are observations in the real time – the cooperation with Real Time Services are considered.

The NASA presented plans of including of a new NASA automatic SLR system NGSLR (Next Generation Satellite Laser Ranging) to the ILRS (International Laser Ranging Service) network, but the results of this new system are not yet confirmed. The new SLR satellite LARES don’t provide sufficient accuracy of measurements. LARES was proposed as a new satellite for station coordinates determination.

The very interesting was Zuheir Altamimi presentation about ITRF (International Terrestrial Reference Frame) in the frame of award him Vening Meinesz medal. His conclusions coincided with the results of the Astrogeodynamic Observatory presentation (Schillak, Lejba).
